Alice Baer, age 47, of Mandan, died December 7, 2002 at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Mandan with the Reverend Larry Giese officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Alice Voegele was born on September 25, 1955 In Mandan, the daughter of Gustof and Gertrude (Flemmer) Voegele. Raised in Mandan, she graduated from Mandan High School in 1973. She then attended Bismarck State College. In 1993, she opened the Southwest Village Gift Shop. Alice was currently employed by the Public Service Commission. In 1976, she was selected Miss Morton County Alice was married to Richard Baer from 1978-1995. Her special friend, Dean Moos, has been by her side for the past three years. She enjoyed clerking at Dean's auctions. Everyone she met enjoyed her wit. Alice loved children, Especially her nieces and nephews. She was especially proud of her step-children and step granddaughter. Family was very important to her and she touched the hearts of all who knew her. Alice, from a very young age, was strongly drawn to music and was a founding member of "Rocky Top". Alice was the inspiration for the Down Home Country Christmas, a major fund raiser for the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House. In addition to performing, she was a gifted songwriter. Her beautiful voice has been added to the Country Angels Band. She is survived by her mother, Gertrude Voegele of Mandan; her sister and brothers-in-law, Betty and Myron Lapp of Hebron and Nancy and Steve Conmy of Mandan; her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Carol Voegele of Bismarck; her stepchildren Dr. Kristy Baer Kartch of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dr Ryan Baer of Rochester, New York; her step-granddaughter, Isabella Quinn Kartch of Salt Lake City, Utah; and her special friend Dean Moos, of Mandan. Her father, Gustof Voegele, who died in 1992, preceded her in death. |
